Sports played: Soccer, cricket, hockey, basketball, golf. Won Presidents Day at Brocton Hall Golf Club with 51 points.
Greatest coaching achievement: Coaching Cannock H.C. from regional league status to National League Champions in 7 years. Coaching England Men in a World Cup.
Most memorable occasion in sport: Taking a school party to Headingley on the day Ian Botham scored his century against Australia.
Likes: Golf, nice wine, spending time with my fiancée.
Dislikes: Australian sportsmen, bad manners, incompetence, bad grammar.
Hobbies and/or interests: Golf, photography, reading and cycling.
Person who most influenced your career and why: Renee Molle Belgian basketball coach. I attended a weekend seminar in Birmingham and learned that the secret of good coaching is coaching the detail.
Favourite ground or stadium: The Olympic Stadium in Sydney during the closing ceremony. The atmosphere and crowd numbers will stay with me for ever.
Last book read: A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson
Favourite movie: Top Gun and A Knights Tale
Favourite music: Being a teenager in the 60’s I would have to say The Beatles, of course.
The best thing about playing sport and studying at UoB: The enthusiasm and commitment of the players. They are a joy to work with.
