Introduction to the club:

The Lions take great pride in being professional both on and off the field.

Our excellent coaching staff are dedicated to helping players achieve their potential and our team first, family ethos allows us to deliver an excellent environment within sport, as well as an active social life.

We have achieved excellence within American Football over recent years. That added to the creation of life long bonds with other team members, and the foundation of our ethics being “Once a Lion... Always a Lion”, we believe becoming a Birmingham Lion is a truly unique experience not to be missed.

Successes & achievements:

• 2008-09 and 2009-10 BUAFL (British Universities American Football League) National Champions
• Divisional Champions 7 Years Running
• 10 players were selected for the 2008-09 BUAFL All Star Game (the most from a single university)

Training times & venues

Tuesdays – 7pm-9pm, Learning Centre - Classroom Session

Tuesdays – 9pm-10.30pm, New Gym (Munrow) - Team building/Fitness session

Thursdays – 7pm-9.30pm, Bournbrook 3G Astro – kitted training

Sundays (non-match days) – 1pm-4pm, Metchley 3G Astro – kitted training

Interesting facts:

• The Lions host a yearly event called xpLosION which attracts a crowd of 3000+ spectators and national television coverage.
• We have strong links with the University Cheerleading squad, the Birmingham Pussycats
• Prior to the National Championship game we were given a 30 minute video ichat with Pete Carroll (Head Coach of the USC Trojans College Football Team)
