Introduction to the club:
Men’s Football is one of the most popular and successful teams at the University Birmingham. We currently have 3 teams that play in the BUCS Championships on a Wednesday afternoon, and a team that plays in the MUL league on a Saturday. The 1st team plays in the highest league possible, the BUCS Northern Premier where we finished second last year and are aiming to go one better next season! The 2nd and 3rd teams play in the BUCS Midland conferences and will be looking to kick on from successful seasons this year. We currently have two coaches who both have very strong links with Birmingham City FC Academy so the level of the football is very high. We aim to have a squad of around 50 players for the coming season and are looking forward to the new intake of players and having another successful season in 2011-2012.
Recent successes:
1st team finished runners-up in the BUCS Northern Premier in 2010-2011 season, finishing one point behind the overall winners, Stirling.
3rd team finished comfortable winners of their Midlands Conference in 2010-2011 and are aiming to make it back to back promotions this year.
The Futsal team made it to the University Championships in Sheffield for the first time in the 2010-2011 season.
The MUL team made it to the semi-finals of the championship and was one game away from the final at Selhurst Park.
