The University of Birmingham (UBSport) Trampolining Club entered a large squad of competitors into the British Universities and Colleges (BUCS) Gatorade Trampolining Championships in Sheffield on February 23-24, with this being many athletes first competition.
Nathan Comber established the performance of the day, earning a Gold medal position and crowned BUCS 2’s Elite Men’s Champion.
The BUCS 2 Elite category continued to build on Nathan’s success, with Helena Boryslawskyj and Becki Blacklock storming through the qualifiers to earn a place in the subsequent final, finishing in 7th and 9th position respectively. Their success continued, as they joined teammate Alice Day in the Women’s BUCS 2 Team to finish in 5th position overall.
Despite the intimidating setting, the club saw Emma Stocks (BUCS 5) and Alice Winson (BUCS 3) finish in the top twenty per cent of their category to make it through to the finals, alongside promising performances from many first time competitors.
Trampolining captain, Alex Peart said ‘We had a fantastic day, with novice through to the elite performing to an excellent standard.’
