The fifth round of the Premier Squash League saw the University Sport Birmingham UNITE team come away with their third win of the season, beating Nottingham.
First on court for USB Unite, making her home debut for the team, was Emma Chorely playing Sarah Kippax. Kippax, currently ranked 32nd in the world to Chorely’s 87th, gave Nottingham their only victory of the evening in just 18 minutes, winning 9/5, 9/5, 7/9.
Next on court was University of Birmingham scholar and World University bronze medallist Joel Hinds, who beat Neil Desai 9/0, 9/4, 9/4, swiftly followed by a win for Jonny Harford over Duncan Walsh, 9/7, 9/0 ,4/9, 9/3.
Sixteen year old, season newcomer Mohamed El Shorbagy took on Lewis Walters and won 10/8, 9/3, 9/6 leaving Joey Barrington to round things off with a 9/6, 9/4, 9/5 win over Eddie Charlton.
This home result cements USB UNITE’s position in the league – second only to Benz Bavarian Duffield who have recently recorded their 20th consecutive unbeaten match within the league.
The season continues in January with the next home match on February 5th at the Munrow Sports Centre.
