Still reeling from their state-side successes, University Sport Birmingham athletics club (sponsored by RLF) began their outdoor season in style, at the British University Sports Association championships at the weekend.
The club, who have recently returned from a tour of Ivy League meets in the USA, battled it out with many London 2012 hopefuls and collected a total of twelve medals at the Bedford based competition.
Sports scholar Jeremy Odamatey triple jumped his way to a gold medal with a personal best of 15.16m, while fellow scholar Julian Adeniran came away 110m hurdles champion.
Birmingham also dominated the 800m with Ed Aston collecting silver only 0.13 seconds behind gold in 1.50.58, while team mate Chris Smith ran a personal best of 1.50.72 and finished third.
The women, who finished second overall, collected a whole host of silver medals along with one bronze.
Hayley Beard started the second place streak in the 800m, followed by Ellie Sprake in the 10,000m and Lucy Mayho in the Steeplechase.
Great British senior heptathlete, Louise Hazel then continued in the long jump, as did triple jumper Sineade Gutzmore, shot putter Alice Simpson and Rachel Backhouse in the discuss.
Sarah Waldron rounded off the medal tally with a 3rd place finish in the 5000m leaving the University of Birmingham women’s team just 16 points adrift of Loughborough overall.
