World silver for scholar

While all other students were enjoying the social activities of Freshers Week, sports scholar Vicky Graves was busy collecting a silver medal at the World Duathlon Championships.

The second year Geography student represented Great Britain in the Junior race in Concord, North Carolina which consisted of a 5k run, 20k bike and 2.5k run. Graves crossed the line in 1:04:42, only 12 seconds behind the gold spot which was taken by a fellow GB athlete.

This adds to an impressive list of achievements by Vicky who won two European Junior medal in as many months over the summer. She added a bronze from the European Triathlon Championships to the Duathlon Gold she picked up in May.

Vicky also won bronze with the British Team at the European Mountain Running Championships.

Elsewhere, recent silver medallist at the world athletics finals Hannah England finished 5th in the 5th Avenue Mile in New York.
