The Birmingham golf girls continue to show themselves as a tour de force with TASS announcing that 5 of their 9 female golf scholars are UBSport students.
World Student Matchplay Champions Lucy Williams, Sian James, Lauren Spray and Charlotte Hope along with fresher Katie Burman have all been awarded scholarships from The Talented Athlete Scheme.
All five students are currently part of the School of Education studying Applied Golf Management.
The Government funded programme which represents a unique partnership between sport and higher and further education has developed to help athletes achieve their best.
As part of their TASS support the golfers will receive individualised strength and conditioning support, psychology and nutrition advice, physiotherapy and sports medicine support, and much needed funding for coaching, equipment and tournament expenses. In addition, they will receive lifestyle support, and the University of Birmingham will provide them with free access to the gym.
Lucy Williams will travel to Brazil tomorrow (October 23rd) for the Faldo Series Grand Final after qualifying at a regional tournament. She’ll compete against the winners from the other 10 qualifiers from around the world.
UBSport currently has over 60 TASS athletes studying at the University of Birmingham.
