Outdoor pursuits weekends

Coniston Adventure Weekends

Get away for an action packed weekend of adventure in some of England's most beautiful scenery!

The University of Birmingham has its own outdoor pursuits centre in the Lake District. Located on the western shore of Coniston Water, The Raymond Priestley Centre is an ideal location for outdoor activities. It is 100 metres from the shore and you can walk from the centre into the hills.

Coniston Adventure Weekends are open to students and staff of the University and also members of the community over the age of 18 years (however 16-17 year olds can attend with an accompanying adult). The weekend is self catering and there is a fully equipped kitchen and dining room for you to use. Bedrooms have either a lake or forest view and accommodate 4 or 6 people in comfortable cedar wood bunks. The centre has a comfortable lounge, table tennis room, drying room and toilets, showers and changing facilities.

Centre staff offer expert tuition and depending on the time of year and weather conditions activities include mountain biking, canoeing, sailing, windsurfing, rock climbing, mountain walking, gorge walking, high and low ropes courses.
