University of Birmingham Sport has an extensive programme of exercise classes - its the largest of its kind in the UK. There are Aerobic, Toning, Dance, Holistic, Aqua & Specialist classes to choose from and they are suitable for all abilities, some with a choice of beginner or intermediate levels. The emphasis is to exercise in a fun and friendly environment, meet new friends, and find something that you enjoy.

New class for summer term 2013 - HIIT Spin!
We’ve added new classes to the Active Lifestyle summer term programme – High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) Spin Classes. This class is the perfect “save time, burn fat” training which makes it easier for busy people to spare time to get involved.
HIIT is training which alternates between intense aerobic Spinning at higher resistances and then a recovery interval by bringing heart rates down – before bringing it back up again with a maximum effort.

Brain train: Exercise drives more oxygen to feed your brain, helping you think quickly and clearly. Learning new physical activities, such as dance, is a work out for your brain as well as your body.

Sleep well: Regular exercise promotes better sleep. A good night’s sleep makes you feel so much better, especially in the morning.

Stronger immune system: Regular exercise promotes a stronger immune system, lowers blood pressure, lowers bad cholesterol levels, lowers heart rate and more!

Be happy: The more you exercise the more endorphins (happy chemicals produced by the brain) you’ll produce. You’ll also be able to cope better with those day to day stresses such as work and exams.
