Gym

The gym in the Munrow Sports Centre is designed to provide you with a range of inclusive equipment for a wholesome workout.

Whether you're young, old, a trained athlete or new to exercise, your heart is the most essential organ in your body. Our vast range of cardiovascular equipment will provide you with a workout to make your heart stronger, improve your stamina and overall fitness.

Free weights

There is a dedicated free weights area within the gym which is fully equipped with Olympic lifting platforms, Olympic plates and bars and numerous free weight stations.

Induction

You must complete an induction before you use the gym for the first time, however, depending on your experience and intended use of the gym, there are different inductions available. Please choose the one which best suits your needs and then book at reception.

Basic Fitness Induction In Depth Fitness Induction

Duration: 30 minutes

A power point presentation held in the Munrow Sports Centre Lecture theatre covering health and safety and general house rules. No sports kit needed.

Only book this induction if you have prior gym experience.

Times: Monday—Friday 12.30, 17.30 ; Saturday & Sunday 12.00, 12.30

Duration: 50 minutes

A small group practical session taken in the gym where you are shown and instructed in how to use the equipment. Sports kit needed.

Book this induction if you feel you have very little, or no gym experience.

Times: Thursday & Saturday 18.10

Free Weights Induction Free Weights Drop-in Session

Duration: 60 minutes

A small group practical session held in the gym covering exercises such as squats, deadlifts, barbell row and overhead press, as well as health and safety and general free weights room rules. Sports kit needed.

This induction is mandatory if you wish to use the Free Weights room.

Times: Monday—Friday 10.00, 14.00, 18.10 ; Saturdays & Sundays 10.00, 16.00

A review of health and safety and general Free Weights room rules for competent free weights users who already have existing experience and can demonstrate how to squat, deadlift and barbell row. Sports kit needed.

Only book this induction if you can do the exercises listed above.

Monday - Friday 06.00 - 11.30
Weekends 08.00 - 20.00

 Please note last admission to the centre is 30 minutes before closing time.

You must carry your ID card, a towel and some water with you whilst in the gym. This is to ensure both you and other users of the gym have a pleasant workout.
