Water-based synthetic pitches
The 2 water-based synthetic pitches, which were the first double pitches of their kind in Great Britain, are used for a variety of sports including hockey, 11-a-side and 6-a-side football.
We kindly ask that users wear dimpled sole and not full studded footwear on these pitches as they may increase the risk of injury and also damage the surface of the pitch.
Grass pitches
The University boasts over 50 acres of grass pitches. There are 2 floodlit grass pitches on campus, of which, the Bournbrook pitch is widely regarded as one of the best rugby pitches in the country.
The majority of football, rugby and recreational sport pitches are located next to the main campus on Metchley Lane. These include a floodlit rugby training pitch and American football pitch.
The Selly Oak pitches are located a few minutes away from the main Edgbaston campus on the A38.
About 6 miles south west of University, near Kings Norton is the Wast Hills site with a cricket facility and golf driving range. It is also the training ground to Birmingham City Football Club.
