It is recognised by the Association of Heads of Outdoor Education Centre’s as achieving the Gold Standard. The Centre also has AdventureMark and is a Royal Yachting Association recognised teaching centre. All the instructors have extensive experience of working in the outdoors and are adaptable and responsive to individual participants. At the Centre we aim to provide an outstanding educational facility appropriate to the ongoing needs of our groups. We offer resources and training that are flexible and we are capable of accommodating a wide range of client groups from both educational and business establishments.

Bedrooms at the Raymond Priestley Centre

The Centre accommodates up to 40 course participants in 8 cabin-style bedrooms. Four rooms sleep 6 people and four rooms sleep four people. There is separate accommodation for visiting staff/group leaders comprising of 2 twin rooms and a single room. They provide a welcome hot and powerful shower after a days activities. Please note we don't provide toiletries.

Lounge/Common Room

Comfy sofas, a view onto Coniston Water which is only 100 metres away and a wood-burning stove all make this a very comfortable room. We use it for small meetings, course reviews and presentations. In the evening it is a great place to relax and talk about the day’s adventures, or watch TV if the course allows it!
Meeting/Field Studies Room - This is used as the main meeting room for course briefings and group work. There is a computer projector, TV, video player, OHP, whiteboard and black-out curtains.

Games Room

We do provide a few board games but it is the table-tennis and table football that seems to be most popular. Display boards provide information on the environment and ideas on sustainable lifestyles. The room also doubles as a review area with a seating area for a small group.

Drying Rooms

There are two drying rooms. On if for Centre equipment and the other for Centre Users. There is a spin-dryer and racks. Clothes that have been spun and hung will be dried overnight by the de-humidifier and should be ready to wear the next day.
