UBSport Graduate Scholarships

About | How to apply | This year's graduate scholars

The Performance Centre at the University of Birmingham is committed to creating an inter-disciplinary network of support around each individual scholar, in order to assist them in reaching their full potential within their chosen sport.

We aim to support and facilitate all of our athletes’ development both during and after study at the University.

To pursue this commitment, we are delighted to be able to offer a select number of Graduate Scholarships – an individualised and specialised scholarship - to University of Birmingham graduates that are working and/or training in the Birmingham area, who are currently, or have aspirations of, competing at the highest level in their chosen sport.

The scheme was originally set up to help encourage high performance athletes use Birmingham as a training base, and to help ease the transition between university and post-university careers.

Hannah England, 1500m silver medallist World Championships 2011: ‘I graduated in 2009 and have just stuck around because I don’t think I could get a better training environment. I was on a sports scholarship the whole time I was here, and I’m now a graduate scholar and I have definitely progressed as an athlete because of it.'
