Disabled users

UBSport actively encourages people of all abilities to participate in sport and physical activity.


All the facilities in the Munrow Sports Centre have disability access including the studio, bar, toilets, dry side and swimming pool changing rooms. Reception also have the facilities to assist customers with hearing difficulties.

The campus mobility map (right) provides further information about accessing services and buildings around campus.

Any user declaring a disability should have a bespoke PEEP (Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan) designed for them in conjunction with University of Birmingham Sport Health & Safety Adviser.

Any group bookings with disabled participants will require a GEEP (Group Emergency Evacuation Plan) agreeing prior to the booking to ensure those users/group are aware of any agreed adjustments to the established evacuation procedures.

Disabled swimmers

Disabled swimmers can use the pool during lengths or general sessions. The swimming pool has a manual hoist to assist people who experience difficulty getting into or out of the pool.



Alta Disabled Swim Club 

The swimming club is a friendly club based around recreational swimming and socialising with exclusive use of the pool on Sundays between 1pm-2.30pm.
