Course Aims
The Level 1 is a vocational qualification that provides the opportunity to study and be assessed for both the practical and theoretical aspects of coaching football. The knowledge gained will enable candidates to develop a basic understanding of safe, ethical and effective football coaching.
Who is it for?
Adults (over 16 years of age) who are looking for an introduction to working with grass-roots football teams, or parents of children in junior teams who want to get more involved. Students in further or higher education studying sports-related qualifications might also wish to pursue this vocational qualification as the first rung on the coaching ladder. 1st4sport and UBSport recommend that candidates with limited experience of coaching attend this course prior to attending the Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football.
Course pre-requisites
Candidates are required to be least 16 years of age prior to certification. There is a practical element to the course so a willingness to get involved, regardless of playing ability will enhance the learning experience. Additional personal learning requirements can also be provided for and should be indicated on the course application form.

The course will also include an Emergency First Aid module and the FA Child Protection and Best Practice Workshop.
Course Assessment

Candidates must deliver a 20 minutes session age appropriate against a given topic demonstrating the following: Safe Practice, Organisation, Enjoyment and fun with progression
