Royal & Ancient Bursary Scheme
In 2002, the University was accepted onto The Royal & Ancient Golf Bursary Scheme. In principle, the scheme is intended to allow continuation of golf whilst in full time study and is open to men and women of any nationality from any academic course. This award is available to all including those on existing scholarships (UBS & TASS).
Criteria
The Bursaries range from £500 to £10,000 for full international level golfers and may be used towards training costs (coaching, club fees, sports science & sports medicine support), competition costs through to equipment and education costs.

Current R&A Bursar Sian James won the 2009 R&A Bursars Tournament and in doing so earner herself a place in a European Tour Event.
AU Golf Team Performance Programme
The University of Birmingham has been a recipient of a golf development grant since 2005. The funding has enabled UBS to develop a performance programme for the development of our 1st and 2nd Team AU Golfers as well as providing additional competition opportunities for our female golfers.
The University of Birmingham are 2008 British University Matchplay Champions, and in 2009 had two teams qualify for the World Student Matchplay Tournament.
