Sian James
Blogger profile: Sian James, first year Applied Golf Management Studies, is very much the person to beat among University Female student golfers at the moment. Already, she has won two England and Wales University Qualifier Tournaments, and the prestigious R&A Bursars Tournament. Forming an integral part of the University 1st Team, and competing against male opponents on a weekly basis, it’s not just the females that have to raise their game. Sian has a current handicap of +1.5 and will look to improve that even further during her 3 years at Birmingham. Sian will be keeping us updated on her progress, and support services that she utilises as part of her scholarship.
David Kettle
Blogger profile: Hockey goalkeeper David Kettle epitomises the dedicated athlete. A final year Sport, PE and Community Studies (SPECS) student, David has shown outstanding commitment to maximising his sporting potential while studying at Birmingham. David plays his Hockey for Cannock and Wales, and has represented his club Cannock, and Welsh U16, U18 and U21 sides in European competitions. He was names goalkeeper of the tournament at the 2005 U18 Euros.
Over the coming months David is going to keep us informed of his progress both on and off the field, and update us on his future career choices.
Oliver Ziff
Oliver Ziff is one of the many promising young triathletes currently training here at the University of Birmingham. The current BUCS Olympic Distance Champion has just finished his first year of Medicine at the university, and has offered to take some time out of his busy schedule to keep us updated on how he is managing to combine a demanding academic course, with training for 3 sports combined in 1. Oliver is improving with every race, and we look forward to following his progress.
